210 people were injured in Shanghai Subway Train Crash last Tuesday.
According to the authorities the accedent occurred on line 10, one of the city's newest subways, after Shanghai Shentong Metro Group blogged the line after having delays due to equipment problems.
Shanghai, a city of 23 million, has rapidly expanded its subway system in recent years and some lines have seen problems with faulty signaling, windows shattering, doors not opening properly and poorly trained train operators.
"At least 212 people were hurt in the crash, three of them seriously. It said none had life-threatening injuries, though some of the injured were carried away on stretchers" the metro operator said.
Photos posted online by passengers showed some of the injured covered in blood and lying on the floor of the train.
The incident snarled traffic downtown as police set up road blocks to clear the way for ambulances.
Hundreds of gawkers gathered to watch as passengers were escorted out of the subway.

'AMC's' Mary Fickett dies at 83
As "All My Children" fans get ready to say goodbye to the soap on September 23, they're also bidding farewell to "AMC" actress Mary Fickett, who has passed away.
Fickett died Thursday at her home in Callao, Va., at the age of 83. Her daughter tells that the cause was complications from Alzheimer's.
Fickett was one of the original cast members, and portrayed the outspoken nurse Ruth Martin from 1970-1995 and again from 1998-2000.
In 1973, the character earned Fickett the first Emmy given to an actor for a daytime drama on the strength of a speech delivered against the Vietnam War.
The network says in a statement that they're "very saddened to learn about the passing" of Fickett.
"As we honor 'All My Children’s' 41 years on ABC, we cannot help but recognize and remember Mary’s wonderful depiction of Pine Valley’s revered Ruth," the statement continues.
"Ruth’s marriage to chief of staff Dr. Joe Martin provided the bedrock upon which the town of Pine Valley was built. Their marriage was always a stabilizing force that represented “home” for many."
ABC will dedicate the September 21 episode of "All My Children" to Fickett, an episode which will focus on the Martins.
The September 23 episode of "All My Children" will be the last to air on the network, although there's a plan in place to produce the soap for the Web.

Mariah Carey's back to work
After five months giving birth to twins, new mom Mariah Carey is back at work.
The diva’s longtime producer Jermaine Dupri posted photos of Carey in the studio on his official website.Mariah posted the pictures as well, and tweeted about her new endeavor.
“So happy to be back in the studio with the one & only @Mr_Dupri aka Jermash!" Mariah stated.
In an interview, Nick Cannon confirmed that his wife is working on a new album.
"She's been working away, and we have a studio in the crib, and [the pregnancy] has totally inspired her on so many different levels,” he said. “You're definitely gonna see some new phenomenal music from Mariah."
Carey, 41, and Cannon, 30, welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan Scott on April 30 of this year.
Nick assures fans that Mariah’s latest effort will be available toward the end of the year.
Carey released her 12th studio album, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel,” in 2009, and her second holiday album, “Merry Christmas II You,” last year.

Plane shot down in Yemen
A government warplane crashed north of capital city of Yemen, Wednesday morning.
Three members of the opposition for shooting down the plane, the incident came as anti-government protests continue to attract huge crowds.
Opposition tribes shot down the aircraft as it was bombarding a residential compound in Arhab district.
"The government is attacking and killing our loved ones because they have the weapons. We have to fight back and we will do so," said Abdullah al-Shaleef, a resident of Arhab .
The eyewitnesses said the government air raids Tuesday night on residential areas in Arhab and Nehm districts had killed two people and injured four.
The plane came down in Bani Hareth, 7km (4 miles) south of Arhab, on the outskirts of the capital, Sanaa, they said..
The violence comes as anti-government protests in Yemen continue, with tens of thousands taking to the streets of Sanaa on Monday.
The United States, the United Nations and the European Union have called on Yemen to halt the violence and called on both sides to establish a peaceful transfer of power.

Taliban attacks kill 10 in Afghanistan
A Taliban attack in southern Afghanistan killed eight officers and completely destroyed a police post, Wednesday.
Three officers were injured in tuesday night attack near Lashkar Gah in Helman province. According to Spokesperson Daud Ahmadi the incident was an inside job.
"It is now clear that a policeman from the post had contacts with the Taliban who invited the Taliban to conduct the attack," spokesperson Ahmadi stated.
Ahmadi said that the policeman fled with the Taliban.
It was the second attack by the terror group in the province that day, he said.
On Tuesday morning, it targeted a bakery, killing two civilians and injuring 26 others, including officers collecting bread.

In Cairo's Tahrir Square, the focus of the anti-Mubarak rallies, one target was the head of the military council, Hussein Tantawi. He served as Mubarak's defense minister.
One banner read, "Egyptians, come out of your homes, Tantawi is Mubarak."
Protester Khaled Abdel-Hamid said Tantawi's plan to transfer power to civilian rule is unclear. He and thousands more are also protesting against the trials of civilians in military courts.
It was the first major rally in the square in a month. Smaller crowds demonstrated in other Egyptian cities.

Actor sentenced to life in prison for gang rape
A bit actor who appeared in the first "Austin Powers" movie was sentenced Friday to life in prison without the possibility of parole in the violent 1990 gang rape of a Southern California woman.
Joseph Son, 40, was found guilty of one felony count of torture Aug. 25 after being linked to the crime through DNA evidence, said Farrah Emami, spokeswoman for the Orange County district attorney.
Son and co-defendant Santiago Lopez Gaitan, 40, abducted the then-19-year-old victim as she was walking her dog by her apartment on Christmas Eve.
Son and Gaitan drove the woman to Huntington Beach and repeatedly raped and sodomized her in the back of the car at gunpoint. They also pistol-whipped her and repeatedly threatened to kill her, counting the bullets and telling her she was going to die.
The victim was named Jane Doe, begged for her life before Son and Gaitan released her, naked, badly injured and blindfolded with her own pants.Evidence was collected from the woman that Christmas Eve, but the case eventually went cold.
In an "impact statement" to the court, the woman said she deals with post-traumatic stress disorder daily, and Christmas has become difficult to celebrate every year.
"My emotional scars are intense," she told the court. "My twenties were stripped from my life as I relearned how to walk, see, hear and cope with the outside world again."
Gaitan pleaded guilty in January to five felonies, including kidnapping and sodomy by force in concert. He was sentenced to 17 years and four months in state prison.

A magnitude-6.4 earthquake struck British Columbia,last friday the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake struck 12:41 p.m. PDT (1941 GMT) at a depth of 14.3 miles (23 kilometers) about 173 miles (279 kilometers) west of Vancouver, the USGS said. The quake was initially reported to have a magnitude of 6.7 but was later downgraded by the USGS.
The quake's epicenter just off the west coast of Vancouver Island, south of Port Hardy.
According to Stephen Halchuck, a seismologist with Natural Resources Canada, said that the quake lasted for 20-30 seconds and rattled buildings across Vancouver Island and the southwest portion of British Columbia. He said there has been no immediate reports of damage in the region.
According to the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center no tsunami was expected.
"This event was not the type to generate a tsunami. It's size was not large enough and the mechanism of the earthquake would not have generated a significant tsunami," said Halchuck.
However, the West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center advised that underwater landslides may cause "local tsunamis" at some coastal locations that experienced strong tremors.
Many in the small coastal community of Zeballos, is at sea level, felt the earth move under them.
As a precaution, the Washington state Transportation Department sent inspectors to check for damage at the Alaskan Way Viaduct, an aging elevated highway on the Seattle waterfront, as well as two other bridges.

President Barack Obama has declared a state of emergency in Texas, making federal funding available to those affected by wildfires in Bastrop County.
The declaration Friday night comes after Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst expressed frustration with the lack of response from the federal government.
Nearly 1,400 homes have been destroyed in Bastrop County since wildfires started there about a week ago, Dewhurst said.
"Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster," the White House said in a statement.
Texas officials were working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to get disaster declarations for specific counties, including Bastrop.
"Utility poles are still burning, stumps are still burning, wire is hanging through the air with only half a pole, swinging. Lines are on the ground," said Mark Rose, general manager of Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.
But the main priority is making sure no one else dies from the fire,Mark rose added.

Sex education causes stir in Chinese elementary schools
China has long been considered a conservative country where talking about sex is taboo, especially to children.But things have started to change slowly.
A report in a local Beijing newspaper about a new sex education textbook for elementary school students some as young as six-years old -- has triggered a heated debate in cyberspace and beyond.
The Beijing Times, a popular local tabloid, reported that the textbook, "The Steps of Growth", explains the concept of sexual intercourse with images and illustrations that some people consider too explicit and graphic.
Some experts in the field even weighed in on the debate. "The content of this text book is not consistent with the children's cognitive capability of this age," said Hu Ping, a sex education expert who owns a studio in Shenzhen, southern China, where she gives classes to young students about sex and health.
In contrast, some parents are comfortable with the textbook. "It's better to teach it to the children earlier than later. The kids nowadays know everything anyway," said Li Yan, a father with a seven-year-old son.
Beijing is not the only Chinese city experimenting with the sex education in elementary schools. In Shanghai, similar experiments are being carried out. According to the state-run China Daily, the first sex education textbook for primary school students will be used in 18 schools in the coming semester.
"Children still need sex education when they're little,"Li Yinhe stated a sociologist who specializes in sexology studies in China.
"An open and appropriate sex education is the best way to help and protect children." Li added.

Authorities detain 3 in investigation of bombing outside Delhi court
Three men were detained in Indian-controlled Kashmir on Thursday following a deadly blast outside the Delhi High Court a day earlier, police said.
Islamic extremist group Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami claimed responsibility for the attack in an email to several TV news channels.
"We are questioning the owner of a cyber cafe and some other people to establish the identity of the email sender police director K. Rajendra stated.
Eleven people were killed Wednesday when a bomb inside a briefcase went off outside the court, the Home Ministry said. An additional 74 people were injured.It was the second explosion outside the court complex in four months.
The blast took place mid-morning, after the court opened and shortly before cases usually begin.
It was a particularly busy day at the court.

One dead, 9 sick from fumes at McDonald's in Georgia
One woman died and nine others were sickened after breathing toxic fumes in the bathroom of a McDonald's restaurant in south Georgia, authorities said last Thursday.
City Police Chief Mark Revenew said an 80-year-old woman from Florida died early on Thursday, hours after being overcome by fumes in the bathroom at a McDonald's restaurant in Pooler, Georgia.
She was one of two women emergency workers found unconscious in the bathroom of the restaurant on Wednesday afternoon, Pooler Fire Chief Wade Simmons said.
A total of 10 people, including three firefighters, went to the hospital after being sickened by the fumes in the bathroom, Simmons added.
Firefighters noticed a smell in the bathroom but were not able to identify the source, Simmons stated.
"We continue to work with the local authorities to collect more information about what may have happened," John and Monique Palamccio, the McDonald's franchisees who own the restaurant, said in a statement.
"The safety of our customers and employees has and will continue to be our number one concern. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families who have been impacted," they said.
The city of Pooler is near Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport.

Three police officers were killed and three civilians wounded in a suicide bomb attack and subsequent shooting in Russia's province of Chechnya on Tuesday.
The suicide bomber killed two police officers near a cafe in the Chechen capital, Grozny, where a festive crowd was celebrating the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, duty officer Musa Kasayev said. The explosion also wounded three civilians nearby, he told The Associated Press.
The regional police press service said that a third police officer was killed in a shootout in a crowd that gathered around the cafe after the explosion.
No one claimed responsibility for the attacks.
An Islamic insurgency has spread across Russia's southern Caucasus region since two separatists wars were fought in Chechnya. The insurgents launch regular attacks on authorities they blame for abductions, torture and extra-judicial killings.

Former NBA player Crittenton charged with murder
Former NBA player Javaris Crittenton, who was once suspended by the league over guns in the locker room, has been charged with murder after a woman was shot on an Atlanta street.
Police spokesman Carlos Campos said police have secured a murder warrant for the arrest of Crittenton, who played at Georgia Tech, in connection with the shooting death of 22-year-old Jullian Jones on Aug. 19. Campos said Crittenton is not in custody and is wanted.
Atlanta police Maj. Keith Meadows told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday night that Crittenton is believed to be in the Los Angeles area. He said the FBI is involved in the investigation.
Jones, a mother of four, was walking with a group of people on the city’s southwest side when a dark-colored SUV drove by and she was shot by someone inside the vehicle, police said.
Investigators say they don’t believe the woman was the intended target. Campos said the motive appears to be retaliation for a robbery in April, in which Crittenton was a victim, Campos said in a statement.
Crittenton most recently played in the NBA with the Washington Wizards and was involved in a gun altercation with Gilbert Arenas(notes). He was on the roster of the NBDL’s Dakota Wizards last season.
Crittenton didn’t play last season because of an ankle injury. He was given a 38-game suspension by the NBA after he and Arenas acknowledged bringing guns into the locker room following a dispute stemming from a card game on a team flight.
Crittenton pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge on Jan. 25, 2010 and received probation. He wasn’t re-signed by the Wizards.

Actor Michael Showers found dead in Mississippi River last Wednesday. Orleans Parish coroner's office announced Friday that the Actor died because of drowning. Authorities found no signs of trauma to his body.
According to the authorities Showers probably were in the river for about two days before he was retrieved. His toxicology report is still pending.
He was pulled from the river near New Orleans’ French Quarter on Wednesday, after Steamboat Natchez captain saw the actor’s body floating in Mississippi. Shower was reported missing by his girlfriend, Melinda Carlos, the night before.
According to Carlos, she had last seen the actor on Monday, as he left their home to go to a gym with a friend named "Joe."
Showers were known as veteran actor. He played a different role and be part of popular movies. Like the film “Traffic” the AMC series “Breaking Bad” and the Zoe Saldana film” Colombiana” in which he plays a police officer.
He also plays the role of Capt. John Guidry on the HBO series “Treme," which follows New Orleans residents' efforts to rebuild their lives after Hurricane Katrina.
Series creator David Simon called Showers “a fine actor who contributed his talents to our drama in the warmest and most professional way.”

Two blast of bombs in Iraqi City takes lives of 34 and 68 were injured last Monday.
According to the authorities it was a morning rush when a car bomb blast followed by a roadside bomb explosion occurred.
“68 people were wounded in the attack” said Dr. Dhiya al-Deen Jalil the head of the health directorate in Kut.
Kut which about 160 kilometers (100 miles) south of Baghdad, has been rocked by violence in recent months.
